Phytolacca americana

American pokeweed (Phytolacca americana) is a Florida native landscape weed. Traditionally this species was used by Native Americans as a heart stimulant and narcotic but is toxic to livestock, people and pets. This herbaceous weed grows up to eight feet in height and is found in pastures, recently cleared areas, woodland openings and growing along fencerows.
