Agricultural Best Management Practices
With more than 47,000 farms, Florida is no stranger to the agricultural industry and understanding the demands associated with food production. Agricultural Best Management Practices (or BMPs) are practical measures that producers can take better utilize existing water resources and reduce the volume of pollutants entering our water supply. To assist growers with navigating the BMP process, UF/IFAS has created various resources to assist in the selection, management and funding of BMPs.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has adopted BMPs for most commodities in the state. Each BMP manual covers key aspects of water conservation and proper resource management to improve water quality.
