Steven Anderson, Ph.D.

Steven Anderson is a postdoctoral researcher focused on examining greenhouse production of industrial hemp in Florida. Steve, a Naples, FL native, earned his bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Central Florida before joining the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences at Texas A&M University, earning his master’s and doctorate degrees in plant breeding. Steve’s graduate research focused on improving breeding efficiency through quantitative genetics and remote sensing approaches,  ultimately aimed towards developing maize germplasm adapted to the Central Texas and Southern United States growing regions. His research interests include applied plant breeding, quantitative genetics, statistics, and remote sensing. Outside of MREC, Steve can be found traveling with his fiancé and pets, enjoying craft beer, hiking, rock climbing, hobby gardening or playing video games.
