Landscape Plant Establishment
ORH 4848C/6905C Instructor Dr. Michele Scheiber Room 111, Administration Building Telephone: 407-884-2034 ext. 111 E-mail: smscheiber@ufl.edu Overview An in‑depth study of plant selection, purchase, installation, and immediate post‑transplant care as it relates to the site and construction activities. The genetic, physiological, and anatomical aspects of plant growth are emphasized in relation to their importance during and after landscape establishment. Laboratories provide students exposure to practical components of the landscape establishment process including planting techniques, staking, mulching, and transplanting procedures. Meeting Times TBA Lectures and labs will be integrated. Required Text Watson, G.W. and E.B. Himelick. 1997. Principles and Practices of Planting Trees and Shrubs. Additional reading assignments will be on reserve in the library. Grading scale 90 - 100 A 87 - 89 B+ 80- 86 B 77 - 79 C+ 70- 76 C 67 - 69 D+ 60- 66 D 0 - 59 E Using the following criteria: Exams: 2 @ 25% ea. = 50% Lab reports and participation: = 20% Final exam: = 30% 100% Academic Honesty As a result of completing the registration form at the University of Florida, every student has signed the following statement: "I understand that the University of Florida expects its students to be honest in all their academic work.
