Overview

This special topics course will provide practical experience in the selection, installation, and cost estimation of hardscape elements including irrigation, walkways and garden structuresRegulatory and business management aspects involved in landscape installation will be covered such as the bidding process, codes, ordinances, licensing, and insurance.  The course will integrate classroom lectures with hands on laboratories.  Students will work closely with the instructor in transferring conceptual designs to an actual landscape.

90 -   100    A      

87 -   89      B+

80-           86      B

 Using the following criteria:

Exams:                                               2 @ 20% ea.           =       40%            

Lab participation:                                                            =       10%

Projects:                                            2 @ 10% ea.            =       20%

Final exam and Lab practical:                                            =       30%

Policy on extensions

The projects will be due at the start of lecture period on the date stated.  A student must make a request for an extension before the set due date.  Assignments turned in late will be down-graded 10 points for each day that the assignment is late.  After two days, no points will be given for the assignment, but incompletes will be given if the assignment is not received before the end of the semester.
