PLANT PATHOLOGY RESEARCH FOR LANDSCAPE ORNAMENTAL AND CUT FOLIAGE PRODUCTION

Return to MREC Home Page

The objectives of this research program at MREC are:

1. To describe and identify  important diseases, pathogens, and disorders of cut foliage  and landscape ornamental species and to study the interactions between these plants and their pathogens that result in disease damage.

2. To study the life systems of disease-producing organisms which affect cut foliage, landscape ornamental, and other species and to identify important factors which can be manipulated or altered to avoid or reduce losses caused by plant diseases.

3. Develop and evaluate disease management tactics which are economical and environmentally-acceptable and which minimize the impacts of diseases on landscape ornamental and cut foliage production.

4. Present this information to growers in a form that is timely and useful.
