1. To describe and identify important diseases, pathogens, and disorders of cut
foliage and landscape ornamental species and to study the interactions
between these plants and their pathogens that result in disease damage.
2. To study the life systems of disease-producing organisms which affect cut foliage, landscape ornamental,
and other species and to identify
important factors which can be manipulated or altered to avoid or reduce
losses caused by plant diseases.
3. Develop and evaluate disease management tactics which are economical and
environmentally-acceptable and which minimize the impacts of
diseases on landscape ornamental and cut foliage production.
4. Present this information to growers in a form that is timely and useful.
