Suggestions for Production of potted Mandevilla 'Alice Dupont'

This cultivar is a semitropical vine with 4-inch wide pink flowers which open light pink and turn darker the next day. The inflorescences last 4 to 5 days.

Propagation:

Single node cuttings should be taken from hardwood, treated with a rooting hormone product such as Hormodin 2 and stuck in a well drained rooting medium under mist. As long as the base of the cutting is maintained at approximately 70 to 75 degrees F, rooting should occur in about 4 weeks.

Tissue culture

Growing on of rooted cuttings:

Potting medium: Most high quality peat-based potting media will do.

Light intensity: Very bright greenhouse conditions or outside under full sun in Florida is preferred. In the north, as bright as possible.

Temperature: 70 degrees F or above

Fertilizer: Mandevilla responds well to relatively high levels of balanced fertilizer program.

Pruning: Cut back as needed. Pruning during the spring and summer growth cycle usually results in one break per pruned shoot. When pruning is done during the late fall and winter, several shoots will usually develop from each pruned shoot.

Growth regulator program: Not known

Pests: Whitefly, mealybugs, aphids and spider mites

Pesticides should be applied according to label directions.

Regardless of the pesticide or mixture of pesticides used, it is
strongly recommended that the effects be evaluated on a few
plants, under your particular conditions before treating all plants.
